Community Service
Jim Palmer has spent much of his life giving back to the Chemung County community through volunteer work, conservation efforts, youth programs, and local organizations. Long before serving in public office, Jim was actively involved in programs that support families, young people, and the natural resources that make our region special.
His commitment to service reflects a lifelong belief that strong communities are built by neighbors working together.
Throughout the years, Jim has held leadership roles in several organizations dedicated to conservation, service, and local traditions.

• President – The Josh Palmer Fund, Inc. (Board of Directors)
• Past President – Ancient Order of Hibernians
These organizations support conservation efforts, community service projects, and charitable initiatives throughout Chemung County.
Jim has also served on several boards and committees that support conservation, environmental stewardship, and responsible government.

• Member – Chemung County Soil & Water Conservation District Board
• Member – Chemung Valley Conservancy
• Board Member – Chemung County Federation of Sportsmen

Jim has volunteered many hours supporting youth activities, conservation programs, and community events throughout Chemung County.
Programs and events he has helped support include:
• Habitat for Humanity – Handicap Ramp Building Projects
• Holy Name of Jesus Parish Festival
• Kids Fishing Day – Eldridge Lake
• Chemung County Soil & Water Kids Conservation Days
• Chemung County Ice Fishing Derby
• Trout Unlimited Fly Tying Classes (Volunteer Instructor)
• Fish stocking programs throughout Chemung County
• Pheasant stocking programs throughout Chemung County
• Youth Pheasant Hunt (Pheasants Forever)
Jim has also been a major sponsor and supporter of the Chemung County Fair, helping support one of the county’s most important community traditions.
Through these efforts, Jim has helped introduce many young people to outdoor recreation, conservation, and the traditions that are important to the community.
Jim remains active in several local organizations that support conservation, outdoor recreation, and community involvement.
